Grade six students who sat the Primary Exit Profile, PEP examinations earlier this year, will know their results in a week’s time.
Minister with Responsibility for Education Karl Samuda, made the announcement during a press conference in Kingston, yesterday (Tues).
He noted that the ministry is compiling the reports to be released to schools.
He also noted that raw scores will no longer be presented to students.
According to Mr. Samuda, the results will be presented as scaled scores, a format similar to that used in the reporting of Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate, CSEC grades.
He explained that moving away from reporting raw scores is in keeping with international standards.
Mr. Samuda added that the new method will allow for more accurate reporting.
Meanwhile, the Education Ministry is reporting that some 1,219 grade six students did not sit the Primary Exit Profile, PEP examinations.
The PEP examinations which are used to determine placement in secondary schools, replaced the Grade Six Achievement Test, GSAT and were administered over a three month period this year.
Mr. Samuda, says some 42,836 grade six students were registered for testing, but only 41, 617 sat the exams for unspecified reasons.
He said those who did not sit the exams this year, are expected to do so at a next sitting.
