Jamaican In Barbados Ordered to pay $15 000 or serve time

Jamaican Onickey Orain Reid was ordered to pay a $15 000 fine after apologising to the High Court for being caught with a firearm in Barbados.

Failure to pay the fine will result in his spending the alternative of 645 days in prison, which is the remainder of an eight-year starting sentence.

Reid pleaded guilty before the No.5 Supreme Court to having possession of an illegal 5.56mm calibre rifle on April 29, 2022.

The gun was discovered, by police, in the trunk of a car occupied by Reid and another person.

It was revealed that Reid is suffering from a gunshot wound for which he receives medical attention.

DARREN SAMMY AND HAYLEY MATTHEWS NAMED TO CPL ADVISORY BOARD

West Indies Cricket men’s white-ball coach Darren Sammy and West Indies Women’s captain Hayley Matthews have both been named to the newly formed Caribbean Premier League (CPL) health, fitness, and well being advisory board.

The board, which will meet quarterly with senior CPL Staff, includes prominent figures such as Jamaican dr. Akshai Mansingh, CPL’s joint Chief Medical officer, and Dr. Maryam Abdool-Richards, Principal Medical officer at the Trinidad & Tobago Ministry of Health.

This diverse team of experts is tasked with advising the CPL on leveraging its platform to create and promote health and wellness programs.

The CPL bowls off on August 29 in Antigua.

JAMAICA IS SECOND MOST WINNINGEST TEAM AT OLYMPICS SINCE 2000

Jamaica is the second most winningest country in terms of medals per athletes at the Olympics since the Summer Games in Sydney 2000.

Thats according to a new study by online betting guide which shows 19.33 percent of Jamaican athletes picked up medals which is the second highest percentage of any competing country behind Ethiopia.

Using Olympics.com and google keyword planner, the research has revealed the most successful nations for medal hauls, medals per athlete, improvement in medal rankings, gold medal wins, and nation domination in each sport, as well as determining the most successful and influential Olympians with a score out of 10.

Ethiopia with 22.70 percent is the country that has holistically punched above its weight when it comes to sports, particularly athletics, as every single Ethiopian Olympic medal winner has been in athletics.

Since 2000, they have won the men’s 10,000-metre race in four of the six olympics that have taken place and have the same record in the women’s race.
