Persons attending this year’s festival activities can make monetary donations to finance relief assistance for victims of Hurricane Beryl.
The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission JCDC has partnered with the Jamaica Red Cross JRC to collect donations at events organised by the Commission.
National President of the Jamaica Red Cross, Allasandra Chung, said that volunteers will be on hand with JRC-labelled collection tins and boxes.
She noted that about $100,000 has been collected for events already staged, including the Jamaica Festival Song Competition and the Emancipation and Independence Thanksgiving Church Service.
JRC volunteers will be at the Independence Village at the National Stadium Complex from August 3 to 6.
Funds will also be collected at the Grand Gala on August 6 and at nightly events.
