Over 300 Teachers are to be added to the Education system-Fayval Williams

Education Minister Fayval Williams says over 300 Teachers are to be added to the Education system in response to the recent mass exodus of the island’s educators.

In recent weeks there has been a rage in public debate on the issue of Teacher migration against the background of Educators seeking better opportunities overseas.

Many principals are dealing with an influx of resignation by teachers even as the new school year approaches next month.

Speaking at a press conference to address the issue this morning, Minister Williams says the teachers are expected to come from the Jamaica-Cuba bilateral program, pre-trained graduates from universities along with final year students from Universities.

70 of the 300 are to come via the Jamaica-Cuba bilateral program.
