Opposition spokesperson on Education and Training Dr. Angela Brown Burke says vaccination should not be mandatory for students to return to face-to-face classes.
Her comments follow an indication from Education Minister, Fayval Williams that only students who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to participate in face-to-face engagement when school resumes next month.
While acknowledging that vaccination is important, Dr. Brown Burke says education is a right and it would be wrong to deny a child this right, because they are not vaccinated.
She says key measures must be implemented to ensure students are safe when face-to-face classes resume.
