Opposition Spokesman on Health, Dr. Morais Guy is questioning the government’s decision to offer Covid booster shots, despite the fact that the World Health Organization is yet to recommend such a move.

The Ministry of Health said starting Monday, December 13, adults 60 years and older and healthcare workers, will be given a booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccines.

Responding to a statement from Prime Minister Andrew Holness in Parliament today, Dr. Guy noted the lack of clarity on the government’s policy decision regarding boosters.

He explained that only the FDA and CDC have recommended booster shots.

In response to Dr. Guy’s concern, Prime Minister Holness said with an excess of vaccines on hand, the decision to offer boosters was natural to prevent wastage.
