Former Olympic 400m hurdles champion Deon Hemmings-McCatty is to be honoured for her impact on local athletics and for providing inspiration to young athletes.

The occasion is the launch of a new film and book, about the sport, on November 3 at GC Foster College, starting at 4:00pm.

The event will feature the local premier of the documentary film “Finding Foster: The Search for Jamaica’s Lost Sprint Hero” and the launch of the new book ‘Fifty Days Afire’: Inside Jamaica’s Long Sprint to Freedom’ by Michael A. Grant and Hubert Lawrence.

The first woman to win an Olympic gold medal for Jamaica, Hemmings-McCatty, will be honoured on the same occasion where the portrait of GC Foster as a young athlete, will be unveiled.
