Can you say custody curveball!
Welp, Ziptocrats, there's another twist in Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez’s ongoing custody saga!
A judge has reportedly ruled in Martinez’s favour, granting him primary physical custody of the former couple’s 13-year-old son, Maceo, while knocking back Berry’s bid to return to a 50/50 arrangement.
According to TMZ, the court dissolved the domestic violence restraining order but also ruled that Berry can no longer have overnight visits with her son.
Martinez, however, didn’t get everything on his wish list, as the judge rejected his request to place additional restrictions on Berry’s holiday custody.
Despite the custody setback, Berry still holds joint legal custody and, according to her representative, has the tie-breaking power when the former couple can’t see eye to eye on decisions concerning Maceo.
The courtroom drama has been anything but quiet, with Martinez previously accusing Berry of choking their son, an allegation the actress firmly denied. Maceo later gave testimony behind closed doors, while Berry raised concerns that Martinez had coached him.
And just when things couldn’t get more complicated, a controversial post appeared on Berry’s Instagram account, suggesting that children’s disrespect towards their mothers could stem from their relationship with their fathers (which we brought yesterday (October 28).
Martinez’s legal team attempted to reopen the evidence following the post, but the judge declined.
Still, this custody chapter isn’t quite ready for its closing credits. The judge is expected to revisit the arrangements in November, meaning another round of legal twists could be on the horizon.
