Fourteen people have died in motor vehicle crashes since the start of September. That’s an average of 1 fatality each day.
In the latest crash, on Eastwood Park Road in Half-Way-Tree, St. Andrew this morning, three people died and two others were seriously injured.
Reports indicate that at approximately 3:40 AM, a Honda City motor car was being driven along the roadway, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which reportedly veered right, and ran off the roadway, onto private property.
The car crashed into a wall and a wooden utility pole, then burst into flames.
While commenting on the unfortunate incident, Vice chairman of the National Road Safety Council NRSC Dr. Lucien Jones noted that there has been a surge in the number of road deaths in recent days.
