Gena Rowlands, the Oscar-nominated actress for her role in The Notebook, has died.
Rowlands was a four-time Emmy winner and a two-time Golden Globe winner, best known for her roles in Gloria, A Woman Under the Influence, and The Notebook.
Earlier this year, Rowlands’ son, Nick Cassavetes, revealed that she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease five years prior—a condition reminiscent of the character Allie, whom she portrayed in the 2004 romantic drama The Notebook.
Gena Rowlands was 94.
