“Not the Only Teacher!” – Vybz Kartel Endorses Sister’s Bid for JTA President

Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel is showing family comes first!

The self-proclaimed “World Boss” is throwing his full support behind his sister, Dr. Maureen Mullings Nelson, as she campaigns to become the next President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA).

In a recent social media post, the “Fever” artiste shared Dr. Mullings Nelson’s campaign mandate with his millions of followers, encouraging them to back her bid.

“Di Teacha” added a playful caption, reminding fans that he wasn’t the only “teacher” in the family.

Beyond the music, Kartel has long credited his sister with helping shape his early love for reading, a passion he says sharpened the lyrical prowess that would later make him a household name in Dancehall.

Dr. Mullings Nelson, a respected lecturer at The Mico University College is no stranger to academic excellence. She’s now set to face off against La Sonja Harrison and Jermaine Williams in the race for JTA President-Elect for the 2025-2026 conference year.

Voting is set to take place from June 16 to 20, 2025, and with Kartel’s endorsement shining a spotlight on her campaign, all eyes are on the ballot.
