Reggae Boyz coach Theodore Tappa Whitmore is expressing disappointment that there will be no supporters in the stands on Sunday when Jamaica face Canada in World Cup Qualifying action.
This after local Government Desmond McKenzie announced that fans will not be allowed to attend, citing the need to maintain close management of COVID-19.
According to the Minister, the match will be closed to the public, adding that no exemptions will be granted in respect of the match and no spectator, vaccinated or unvaccinated, will be allowed in the stadium.
The Minister is also reminding the public, that under the current Disaster Risk Management order, Sunday is a no-movement day.
Coach Whitmore made the contrast to this evening’s encounter against the United States in Austin Texas.
The move by the government is a blow to the Jamaica Football Federation JFF who was seeking to have spectators for the match, in an effort to earn much needed revenue and to provide the 12th man effect for the national team, in the crucial encounter.
