Chairman of the St. James Municipal Corporation Mayor Leroy Williams, is insisting there will be no Grand Market in Montego Bay this year, but he will allow vendors to commence selling at an earlier time.
Some vendors protested yesterday, calling for a longer period to do business on December 24 Grand Market, the biggest shopping event for the year.
Government restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 cases, have seen curfews and other measures imposed, which restrict movement.
The Mayor says he’s concerned that allowing the traditional Grand Market, could lead to a spike in cases.
