Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced that there will be no local government election this year.
Amendments to the Representation of the People Act (ROPA), has allowed for the local government elections which were slated for November 2020, to be pushed back to a date no later than February 27, 2022.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony of the Olympic Gardens Police Station in St. Andrew this morning (June 30), Mr. Holness said talks that the government has recrafted measures to facilitate a local government election are not true.
