Several new overseas-based players have been called up for the Reggae Girlz’ two Gold Cup games in the absence of a number of the players from the World Cup who have indicated that they will not be available.

Captain and star striker Khadija “Bunny” Shaw and World Cup goal-scorer Allyson Swaby are among the players who will be unavailable for the games against Panama and Guatemala on October 25 and 29.

According to a joint statement, the Girlz decided not to play for the national team until issues with the Jamaica Football Federation were resolved, including outstanding payments from the recent World Cup.

A full technical support staff has also been put in place, following indications from some staff members that they would be available as well.
