The Neo-Soul music community is mourning the loss of singer D'Angelo.
According to a statement from D'Angelo's family, the "Brown Sugar" artiste passed away this morning (October 14), after a silent but "courageous" battle with pancreatic cancer.
Shortly after the news broke, scores of celebrities took to social media to share their condolences.
Celebrities such as Jill Scott, Tank, Jamie Foxx, Maxwell, Jennifer Hudson, JT, 6Lack, and Doja Cat took to social media to pay tribute to the "How Does It Feel" crooner.
D'Angelo, a four-time Grammy winner with 14 Grammy nominations, helped pave the way for neo-soul, which is a musical art form that incorporates contemporary R&B with funk, rock, hip hop and electronic music.
The 51-year-old also released three major albums from the 1990s to the 2010s: Brown Sugar in 1995, Voodoo in 2000 and Black Messiah in 2014.
D'Angelo cancelled an appearance earlier this year due to a reported medical issue following surgery.
Just last year, he was working on new music and appeared on 'The Book of Clarence' soundtrack.
D'Angelo leaves behind three children, which includes a son he shared with R&B legend Angie Stone, who passed in March of this year.
