Nelly is catching heat after admitting he’s doing 'nada' when it comes to caring for his newborn with Ashanti.
In their new reality show called Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together, the "Hot In Here" rapper proudly declared, “I got nothing for him,” and said the baby’s all Ashanti’s until he can walk and talk.
Meanwhile, Ashanti is doing the heavy lifting, changing diapers and losing sleep.
What really had fans heated was when the "Foolish" crooner asked how Nelly managed to snooze through the baby’s cries, he replied, “Do y’all really be up at night?" to which Ashanti, obviously frustrated rolled her eyes at the comment. He the added "I’ll give you the world… I just ain’t changing no diapers.”
Fans were not having it! “She’s a married single mom,” one Instagram user commented. Another added, “Real men change diapers.”
The couple quietly got married in late 2023 after which Ashanti gave birth to their son Kareem Kenkaide Haynes on July 18th of last year before making the birth announcement in August. While this is Ashanti’s first baby, Nelly has older kids from previous relationships as well as raising his late sister's two children.
To be fair, the St. Louis rapper did warn her when he said “Chasing toddlers at 50? Only with nannies.”
Turns out, he meant every word.
