A number of NBA, WNBA and MLB teams have begun boycotting their games following the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin.

Since the shooting, players have raised their voices to use their platform to help tackle the major issue of racial inequality in the United States. The Milwaukee Bucks, with this shooting close to home, took serious action and have decided not to play, at least for now.

Several athletes, as well as other celebrities across the board including former president Barack Obama and Lebron James have also spoken out on their social media in support of the boycott, Obama wrote, “I commend the players on the Bucks for standing up for what they believe in, coaches like Doc Rivers and the NBA and WNBA for setting an example. Its going to take all our institutions to stand up for our values”, Lebron wrote, “bleep this man, we need change, sick of it”.

Yesterday August 26 marks four years since Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the national anthem in a peaceful protest against racial inequality and the oppression of black people in America.
