Congratulations are in order!
Singer Naomi Cowan has won the 2026 JUNO Award for Reggae Recording of the Year for her debut album Welcome to Paradise.
The award was presented during the 50th staging of the JUNO Awards ceremony.
The achievement is major btw, as Cowan is only the 10th woman to win in this category since it was introduced in 1985.
Speaking about the win, Cowan said she is proud to be a woman in reggae music. She also shared that there were times in her career when she questioned whether there was space for her in the industry or if her style would be accepted. However, she chose to stay true to herself, and she believes that decision has paid off.
Cowan also expressed gratitude to those who supported the project, including producer Toddla T, her parents Tommy Cowan and Carlene Davis, and her management team.
The Reggae Recording of the Year category, which has had different names over the years, continues to recognize outstanding reggae music, with Cowan now added to its list of winners.
