President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica NAJ, Dawn-Marie Richards, will visit Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James today, following last week’s protest by A&E nurses over poor working conditions and overcrowding.
The Jamaica Medical Doctors Association JMDA welcomed commitments from health authorities, made during a Saturday meeting with hospital and Western Regional Health Authority representatives, to strengthen primary healthcare, establish a field hospital, and complete repairs within three weeks.
Richards’ visit aims to hear directly from the affected nurses.
The hospital’s space issues have been worsened by extensive damage from Hurricane Melissa.
