Culture and Entertainment Minister Olivia 'Babsy" Grange is among those within the entertainment community, mourning the passing of legendary singer Ernie Smith.
In a statement the minister wrote: "Ernie was more than a musical icon, he was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished family man and a gift to Jamaica and the world."
The Singer who rose to prominence in the 1970s, has shared many hits including "All For Jesus", "Ride On Sammy", "One Dream", "Life IS Just For Living", "Duppy Or Gunman" among others.
Minister Grange noted that Ernie's music touched hearts, bringing Joy, love & Inspiration across generations.
She says his voice, spirit & legacy will live on forever.
Ernie Smith passed away yesterday after being admitted to hospital in Florida earlier this month.
He was 80 years old.
