Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Muni Long has revealed she underwent a double lung transplant after more than a decade of battling lupus, which nearly cost her her life during an early exit from Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine” tour.
Speaking on Good Morning America, she said doctors once gave her only a week to live and warned she would need to choose between hospice care or surgery.
Long said her decision was driven by her role as a mother, adding that she “couldn’t sing” without surviving.
Now six months post-surgery, she says she is recovering well and hopes to return to performing after further medical procedures.
