This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will introduce two brand-new honours, spotlighting trailblazers in rap and Latin music.
Hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes will be the first recipient of the Rock the Bells Visionary Award, which recognises his cultural influence and decades-long career. Rhymes, who made his VMA performance debut in 1997, is also set to hit the stage at this year’s show.
Meanwhile, global superstar Ricky Martin will be presented with the inaugural Latin Icon Award, celebrating his four-decade journey that helped propel Latin music and culture into the mainstream. Like Rhymes, Martin, whose VMA history dates back to his breakout 1999 performance, will also perform during the ceremony
