Schools identified as high-risk areas for mosquito breeding because of swamp like conditions nearby are being referred to the Ministry of Health’s Vector Control Unit for inspection and fogging.
High risk schools in each region will be provided with financial support to purchase mosquito repellants and other materials to assist with prevention and control efforts at the premises.
This is part of the collaborative work being undertaken by teams from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information and the Ministry of Health.
To date, Health Education Officers have done more than 100 site visits across the island and seen to the fogging of a number of schools.
