Michelle Trachtenberg Dead at 39

American actress Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her roles in Harriet the Spy and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has died at age 39.
According to reports from the New York Post and WABC, which cited police sources, Trachtenberg was found dead by her mother in a New York City apartment this morning (February 26). Sources say she had recently undergone a liver transplant.
Trachtenberg first gained fame as a child star, playing Nona F. Mecklenberg in The Adventures of Pete & Pete (1994). In 1996, she took on the lead role in Harriet the Spy, the first-ever film from Nickelodeon Movies, making her a household name.
In 2000, she joined Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Dawn Summers, the younger sister of Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar). She remained a key cast member until the show ended in 2003.
Fans may also remember her from Fall Out Boy’s 2007 music video for This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race, as well as her role in the 2010 comedy Cop Out, starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan.
Her passing is a heartbreaking loss for fans and the entertainment industry.
