The Met Gala, which was dubbed ‘Fashion’s Big Night Out’ happened last night and celebrities came out in their numbers.
Stars across industries including TV, film, politics and sport did not disappoint, bringing exaggerated silhouettes, elegant accessories and moments of drama to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday evening.
Of course, the MET paid tribute to Rihanna with a marble statue in her honour.
This year’s theme was “Gilded Glamour” a concept that leaves plenty of room for interpretation and pulls inspiration from New York’s Gilded Age, when excess and grandiosity defined both the decades and the fashion.
The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum Of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It is popularly regarded as the world’s most prestigious fashion event, and an invitation is highly sought-after. Invites are selective, and tickets cost $35,000 each.
