World record-holders and Olympic champions Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Mondo Duplantis are the overall women’s and men’s 2025 World Athletes of the Year.
The Team USA hurdler and the Swedish pole vaulting star were honoured at the World Athletics Awards ceremony in Monaco on Sunday (30 November) and were also named winners of the female track and male field categories, respectively.
Twelve finalists across three main categories (Track, Field, Out of Stadium) were chosen during the first round of voting, which included votes from the World Athletics Council, World Athletics Family and a public vote on social media.
