Montego Bay Mayor Richard Vernon has challenged Jamaica's micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to professionalise their operations and compete for government contracts.
Speaking at the MSME Procurement Project Launch and Boot Camp in St James, he highlighted the Government's policy reserving 20 per cent of eligible public contracts for MSMEs.
Mayor Vernon said the initiative will help remove barriers that have prevented many small businesses from securing public contracts.
He urged entrepreneurs to prepare their businesses to take advantage of the opportunities and contribute to economic growth.
