Mavado Returns With ‘Big Guns’ in Gritty New Video

Share

Dancehall heavyweight Mavado is back with a gritty reminder of his “grimy” roots in his latest release, Big Guns. On Sunday, the Gully God—real name David Constantine Brooks—premiered the official music video, loaded with firearm imagery and unfiltered street bravado.

The 44-year-old artiste, who hails from Cassava Piece in St. Andrew, hasn’t released a hardcore gunman anthem in years, making this a significant return to the darker, rugged style that catapulted him to fame in the early 2000s. Big Guns rides the Cure Pain Riddim, produced by Good Good Productions, and reintroduces the raw edge that defined Mavado’s breakout years.

The music video, shot in the United States, underscores the track’s aggressive tone. One scene shows Mavado wielding a high-powered firearm, while others feature his associates—including protégé Jay-A—brandishing rifles and uniquely customized pistols.

With Big Guns, Mavado reasserts his presence in the dancehall arena, reminding fans that the Gully side is still fully active and unafraid to bring the heat.
