Dancehall veteran Macka Diamond showed a rare, vulnerable side to her supporters, sharing an emotional video to mark her son’s birthday on September 13 while opening up about their painful estrangement.
Fighting back tears throughout the video, the entertainer revealed that she has not seen or heard from her only child, whom she affectionately calls "Jam Jam", in over two years.
"I haven't heard from my son but maybe two and something years, and it feels bad when I should be celebrating his birthday with him today," Macka Diamond shared.
"I sacrificed a lot for my career, and I had one child thinking that was best enough for me so I could have a career and a life.
I treat that one child like a king."
Reflecting on the rift, the deejay noted that while her music career kept her busy, she ensured he had opportunities she never experienced, including stable family support and the ability to live in Canada with his grandmother.
She expressed sadness over what she described as a growing trend of adult children walking away from supportive parents following family disputes.
Directly addressing her son in hopes that the video reaches him, Macka Diamond offered a loving birthday wish and expressed hope for future reconciliation.
"Anywhere you are in the world, my Jam Jam... just know that I love you and have a wonderful birthday," she said.
"Your grandma misses you, we all miss you, and there must be some way that we can fix the problem one day.
I just need to even get a text from you to say that you're okay."
