Lila Ike and H.E.R. dropped their new collab called “He Loves Us Both” and it’s clear that it pays homage to Brandy and Monica’s 1998 hit single “The Boy Is Mine”.
The song and music video dropped on Thursday.
Both vocalists trade warning shots about a Boy, who they both don’t want to lose.
Ike, in a statement to Complex, said that when she wrote the song, she thought of H.E.R., as they had done some sessions together in 2021 during the Covid 19 era. She said when she played it for her, she (H.E.R.) “… immediately got in the booth and so effortlessly made it into the masterpiece it is today.”
The YouTube video currently has over 60,000 views and fans are loving it.
One fan commented: “This is the reggae Boy is Mine. We are here for it! Beautiful vocals from Lila and H.E.R.” while Protoje comment with: “Two amazing vocalist. This a gimme 2024 Brandy x Monica”.
Ike said the song is one of the proudest moments in her career.
