Lil Wayne Tops Rap Chart, Beating K.Dot’s GNX

Lil Wayne’s 'Tha Carter VI' is now the No. 1 rap album in the U.S., ending Kendrick Lamar’s seven-week streak at the top with GNX.
Though Weezy's album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, which is behind Morgan Wallen's 'I'm The Problem', it still took the top spot on the rap chart with 108,000 units sold in its first week.
That’s a drop compared to his past releases: Funeral opened with 139,000 in 2020, and Tha Carter V did 480,000 in 2018.
Despite the lower numbers, Wayne has knocked GNX from the rap throne ending GNX’s impressive seven-week run at the top.
Even though 'Tha Carter VI' is the top rap album right now, it had the weakest first-week sales of any Carter album and the lowest opening of Lil Wayne’s nearly 30-year career.
