Is there a double standard within the music industry?
A double standard is a rule or principle which is unfairly applied in different ways to different people or groups.
This question stems from Cardi B defending herself after a 3 year old video resurfaced on instagram over the weekend of her admitting she drugged and robbed men who wanted to flirt with her while she worked as a stripper. Some social Twitter users posted their belief that there’s a massive double standard being exploited.
Many of the users are saying if a man admitted to robbing and drugging women, he would probably get arrested. However, in Cardi B’s situation, many Twitter users do not believe that any charges will be brought against her. They even compared Cardi to Bill Cosby. Who was sentenced to state prison last September for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman over a decade ago. The classification means that Cosby’s name will also appear on a sex-offender registry sent to neighbours, schools and victims.
Currently, there are no reports of Cardi B being investigated for these incidents.
