Lawyers for veteran People’s National Party PNP figure K.D. Knight are calling on Jamaica Labour Party JLP Campaign Manager Dr. Christopher Tufton to issue a public apology and withdraw statements linked to an audio clip played during a recent JLP gathering in Half-Way Tree.
The attorneys contend that the audio presented at the meeting was altered and did not reflect the original recording.
Mr. Knight has already signalled plans to pursue legal action against Dr. Tufton regarding the incident.
On Thursday, the law firm Knight, Junor & Samuels, representing Mr. Knight, delivered a formal notice to Dr. Tufton. The correspondence insisted that he accept responsibility for what they describe as defamatory remarks against their client.
While the legal team indicated a willingness to discuss a possible settlement, they set a deadline of midday Friday, August 15, for both the apology and the retraction to be made.
