Lee Scratch Perry has Died

Reggae Pioneer, Lee Scratch Perry has died. Reports are that the the Legend passed away this morning at the Noel Holmes Hospital in Lucea. He was 85 years old.

His cause of death is not yet disclosed. However, it is said that the musician had been ailing for some time.

Earlier this year, Perry indicated that he wanted to return to his home country, Jamaica from Switzerland, due to cold weather.

Kegarded as one of the most artistic figures to emerge, Perry has produced a number of hits during his 60-year career, including some of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ best early recordings such as Soul Rebel and Soul Revolution albums and Small Axe, Duppy Conqueror, Jah Live, Punky Reggae Party, and Rastaman Live Up singles.

In 2003, he won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for the aptly titled Jamaican E T.
