Lecturers at the University of Technology UTECH are expected to resume regular teaching duties today, following a meeting at the Labour Ministry yesterday (Tues).

The management of UTECH had asked for the ministry’s intervention, after the teachers went on strike over non payment of retroactive monies.

A statement from the academic staff union last evening (Tues), said during the meeting, the staff and management of UTECH agreed to a temporary resumption of work, beginning today (Wed).

This is to give the management time to secure additional funding towards the payment of retroactive sums owed to academic staff, for the period 2018/2019 and to outline a firm schedule of payment.

Another meeting is set for the Ministry of Labour, for Monday November 11, at which time it is expected that there will be normalization of any agreement reached.
