LEADER OF DEAN’S LANE GANG, PERSON OF INTEREST IN RECENT ROBBERY, SHOT DEAD BY POLICE

The reputed leader of the Dean’s Lane Gang operating in and around the parish of St. James was fatally shot during a confrontation with the Police on Tuesday, March 12. Two firearms were also seized following the incident.

He is 36-year-old Kayon Wellington, otherwise called ‘Scatta’, of Belmont, Anchovy in St. James. Another man, who remains unidentified, was also killed during the confrontation.

Wellington was implicated in the recent double murder and robbery committed on Jarrett Street in the parish on Sunday, March 10, which claimed the life of 61-year-old, Canute Earle, Security Guard, and 41-year-old Floyd Wilson.

His criminal activities date back to 2003 when he came under the Police’s radar as a Person of Interest for crimes such as robberies, wounding with intent, shootings, and murders in St. James.

Wellington’s co-conspirators in the robbery/murders on Jarrett Street are Odane Brown, otherwise called ‘Bummy Squeeze’ and a man known only as ‘Tickerous’.

Lawmen are appealing to both men to turn themselves in immediately and anyone knowing their whereabouts is being asked to come forward.
