In a birthday post on Instagram, Ms. Lauryn Hill reflected on her past relationship with Rohan Marley, saying that he “never cheated” on her.
Hill shared the message while celebrating Marley’s birthday, posting a mix of old and recent family photos featuring the former couple and their children. She described him as a “protector” and “defender,” and expressed gratitude for his role as a father to their children.
The pair, who were together from 1996 to 2009, share five children, including YG Marley and Selah Marley. Hill also has another son, Micah, from a different relationship.
Her comments revisited earlier statements she made over the years about their relationship, which she has often described as complicated but rooted in family and co-parenting.
Rohan Marley has previously said in interviews that he does not see Hill as a “bad person,” but acknowledged there were aspects of their relationship he “couldn’t accept.” He has also noted that while their romantic relationship ended, they continue to share a positive co-parenting dynamic focused on their children.
