The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation KSAMC, has announced a temporary 20% reduction in fees for structures erected or installed at entertainment events.
This measure, effective from December 2025 to January 2026, aims to alleviate financial pressure on promoters and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry following the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
Speaking at KSAMC’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, Mayor of Kingston Councillor Andrew Swaby highlighted the widespread economic effects of the hurricane. He referenced the Government’s recently tabled Fiscal Policy Paper, which projects a 4.6% decline in economic performance for the current fiscal year.
Councillor Swaby noted the vital role of the entertainment sector in maintaining income circulation within the municipality and praised industry members for their generous relief efforts in the hurricane’s aftermath.
He noted that the temporary fee reduction is designed to provide the entertainment industry with much-needed financial relief during this challenging period
