Kari Lake Nominated by President Donald Trump as New US Ambassador to Jamaica

Politician and former news anchor Kari Lake has been nominated by Donald Trump to serve as the new United States ambassador to Jamaica.

The nomination, announced by the White House, must still receive Senate confirmation before Lake can officially assume the role.

Jamaicans in the diaspora expressed mixed reactions, with some questioning the experience and mandate she would bring to the position, while others believe she will strongly represent the Trump administration’s agenda.

Lake, a former Arizona political candidate and ex-news anchor, would replace former ambassador N. Nick Perry, who stepped down after Trump returned to office.
