Kai Cenat reveals he turned down a career-making invitation to the Met Gala, the biggest night in fashion, after “not feeling” the brand that invited him.
The style-centred charity ball in aid of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Fashion Institute is attended by an ultra-exclusive list of guests, personally curated by Vogue’s Editor in Chief, Anna Wintour. A spot amongst the invitees is coveted because a Met Gala appearance often propels celebrities to new heights of fame, especially those who nail the Met Gala’s extravagant theme. Fashion Houses usually vie to style star-studded groups of celebrities.
In a stream this weekend, Cenat shared with his over 700,000 subscribers that though he had been invited to attend, he turned it down. The streamer shared “I had an opportunity to go to the Gala, but I turned it down because the brand that wanted to host me…I didn't want to do that brand.” Cenat also revealed that Pharrell Williams, one of five co-chairs for the gala, invited him to stream the official after-party. However, he’s still undecided on whether he’ll accept that offer.
The 2025 Met Gala will be held tonight at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, under the theme “Tailored For You,” tied to the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.
