JUTC Offers $1M Reward in Hunt for Suspect Linked to CNG Bus Arson in Spanish Town and Half-Way Tree Fires

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is offering a $1-million reward for information leading to the identification of a suspect linked to the arson of a CNG-powered bus at the Spanish Town lay-by on May 30.

Surveillance footage allegedly shows the man setting an object ablaze before exiting the vehicle, which was later destroyed by fire.

JUTC believes the same individual was responsible for a similar bus fire at the Half-Way Tree Transport Centre in 2024.

Managing Director Owen Ellington said the incident posed a serious public safety risk due to the bus's CNG fuel system. Anyone with information is being urged to contact Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station.
