Justin Timberlake has heard the criticisms, and now he’s setting the record straight!
The pop star took to his Instagram to address the backlash over his recent European tour performances, revealing that he’s been quietly battling Lyme disease.
This morning (July 31), the 44-year-old singer reflected on wrapping up his tour and opened up about the “debilitating” illness that left him struggling with nerve pain, fatigue, and sickness while onstage.
“I was shocked by the diagnosis, but at least I understood why I was feeling the way I did,” he wrote. “I considered stopping the tour but chose to keep going because performing brings me joy.”
Fans had criticised Timberlake for seeming low-energy during shows, especially when he let the crowd sing most of “Can’t Stop the Feeling.” Some assumed he was burnt out, but Timberlake says he stayed silent to protect his privacy and is now sharing his story to avoid misunderstandings.
“I’m trying to be more transparent so my struggles aren’t misinterpreted,” he added.
Lyme disease, caused by tick bites, can cause long-term symptoms even after treatment.
Timberlake’s reveal comes after months of speculation, and fans are now rallying behind him with support.
