Bill Cosby’s bid to overturn a nearly $60 million civil verdict has been denied by a Los Angeles County judge.
The ruling upholds a jury decision that found Cosby liable for sexually assaulting former waitress Donna Motsinger and awarding $59.25 million in damages.
Judge Bradley S. Phillips said Cosby failed to show any trial irregularities and found sufficient evidence supported the jury’s findings.
The decision preserves the March verdict, which included both compensatory and punitive damages following allegations dating back to 1972.
