JTA PRESIDENT URGES EDUCATION MINISTRY TO SUPPLY PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS

President of the Jamaica Teachers Association JTA, Winston Smith, is urging the Education Ministry to provide psycho-social help for teachers and students.
This as he says the Covid-19 pandemic is taking a toll on the mental health of many.
His call comes at the beginning of the new school year.
Mr. Smith said there are several challenges facing teachers and students among them internet connectivity and psychological issues brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said the education sector continues to be impacted by the death of teachers.

He noted that another teacher died last evening.
