JPS has reduced the number of customers without power from approximately 100,000 this morning to just under 60,000 at 6pm.
The Company says its teams will continue working into the night to restore supply to as many customers as possible.
Corporate Communications Director Winsome Callum says however that while some customers will receive power in the next few hours, some customers will be without electricity tonight.
She says this is because of the extent of the damage in some areas.
