The Jamaica Public Service company, JPS has advised that its teams will continue to restore power in communities across the island being affected by adverse weather as long as its safe for crews to work.
In a statement, JPS says there has been an increased incidence of outages across the island as a result of deteriorating weather conditions influenced by hurricane Melissa.
JPS says in the lasts 24 hours, just over 52,000 or about 7.5% of their 700,000 customers were impacted by outages.
So far, JPS says it has restored more than 30,000 of those affected and work continues to reconnect the remaining customers.
However, in some cases, JPS says restoration is being hampered by access caused by difficulty terrain and heavy rainfall.
