The Jamaica labour Party, JLP Secretariat and Area Council Three have been mobilized to address the concerns of disgruntled party supporters in North East St. Ann, following a demonstration this morning (February 3).

The upset party supporters called for the resignation of member of Parliament Marsha Smith.

They claim that Smith has not done anything in the constituency since being elected and that she does not communicate with party workers and residents.

In a statement this afternoon, JLP General Secretary Dr. Horace Chang said the party acknowledges the protest action taken today by supporters in the constituency.

Dr. Chang said that while the party accepts and recognizes the right of all Jamaicans and members of the JLP political machinery, to exercise their freedom of expression, there are internal mechanisms established in the area council and JLP Secretariat, to resolve disputes and disagreements that may arise in constituencies from time to time.

He said the party welcomes the willingness of supporters to engage in a positive and meaningful process of dispute resolution.
