To celebrate World Intellectual Property Day 2025, the Jamaica Intellectual Property Office JIPO partnered with the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association JaRIA to host the JIPO X JaRIA Original Song Competition.

The grand finale was held on April 17 in Kingston, spotlighting ten finalists selected from 38 original entries.

The competition was designed to raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property in Jamaica’s creative sector.

According to JIPO’s Deputy Director and Legal Counsel, Shantal English Richards, the event emphasized the value of originality and supported greater public understanding of IP rights.

Audience engagement played a key role, with online voting accounting for 20% of the final results.

At the end of the night, Annae Campbell was announced the winner for her original, unreleased song “Reggae Riddim.”

Ms. Campbell’s prizes include performing during this year’s staging of Reggae Sumfest.
