It’s been a while since local designer and art director Anna IXE has been breaking the Jamaican internet with her expert manipulation of everyday materials into the unconventional materials, creating fabulous outfits. Yesterday, she was featured on the American media platform The Shade Room.
It was her 3D avant-garde outfit made entirely out of paper towels that got her noticed, but Annaixe has turned everything from ropes to measuring tapes into wearable art and posted the process and results to her socials, shocking her followers and leaving them wanting more.
Though we know Anna through her fashion design work, she is also a successful art director. Her resume includes work for artistes like Shenseea, Tosh Alexander, Popcaan and Romain Virgo as well as brands like Adidas, Wray and Nephew, Apple Music and Wales Bonner. Anna has been expressing her gratitude via her Instagram stories as well as a comment under the post from TSR reading, “I told myself on Jan 1st that no matter what, this would be the year my life changes, I didn’t know how or when it would happen but thank you for putting my work and my country on such a global platform for people to see and Thank you to everyone in the comments for uplifting me and saying such kind words, I’m feeling beyond blessed”.
